hump day harangue
Wednesday, March 18th, 2009so, i still feel tired from the weekend.
we went to lauren’s birthday party friday night. didn’t drink, and wasn’t out too late, but saturday we had to drive to houma. cassidy was in the show at the drama club with bambi and kofi. that was fun. and it was fun hanging out with clarence and kendall. but i’ll tell you this, there is nothing pretty about houma! there is no way in hell i’d want to live there! i didn’t see any pretty women, much less hot guys! damn! what’s in that bayou water down there?!
went to sleep about 4am sunday morning. wasn’t really planning on going to new orleans for the st. patty’s day parade since it was supposed to rain. but 11:00 found us on the road headed that way. got there and parked just in time for the start of the parade. it didn’t rain, in fact, the top of my shaved head is sunburnt! the parade was fun. took about 600 pictures, so i’ll have a gallery up soon.

last night was our first clogging lesson. i pretty much sucked. i have no rythym whatsoever, and i’m so intimidated by it that i basically just watched everybody else. i’m not giving up, though. the bf is going to try to teach me at home. i wanna do it so bad!!! i want to do it because dancing is something i have always wanted to do, but more than that, i don’t want to disappoint him.

this current blog has been around for four years! i’ve had many blogs, but this one has endured the longest.
sometimes i don’t have anything to say, or what i have to say seems trivial.
sometimes i blog anyways.
or not.
or just put up a picture of a sexy guy that makes me weak in the knees.
either way, it’s all good, cuz it is my blog!
it’s kinda cool also, that this, the 1000th post, coincides with the four year anniversary of the 1st post!!
happy blog-iversary to me!

stupidity!
Thursday, March 12th, 2009Army fired 11 soldiers in Jan. as openly gayThe Army fired 11 soldiers in January for violating the military’s policy that gay service members must keep their sexuality hidden, according to a Virginia congressman.
Democratic Rep. Jim Moran said he has requested monthly updates from the Pentagon on the impact of the policy until it is repealed. In a statement released on Thursday, Moran said the discharged soldiers included an intelligence collector, a military police officer, four infantry personnel, a health care specialist, a motor-transport operator and a water-treatment specialist.
“How many more good soldiers are we willing to lose due to a bad policy that makes us less safe and secure?” asked Moran, a member of the House panel that oversees military spending.
The Pentagon’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy was instituted after President Bill Clinton tried to lift the ban on gay service members in 1993. It refers to the military practice of not asking recruits their sexual orientation. In turn, service members are banned from saying they are gay or bisexual, engaging in homosexual activity or trying to marry a member of the same sex.
The military discharged nearly 10,000 service members under the policy in a 10-year period, from 1997 to 2007. The number fired each year dropped sharply after the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan, when forces were stretched thin. Whereas more than 1,200 were dismissed in 2000 and 2001 for violating the policy, about half as many — 627 — were fired in 2007.
The Pentagon has not released its 2008 figures.
The White House has said President Barack Obama has begun consulting with Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Michael Mullen on how to lift the ban. But the administration won’t say how soon that might happen or whether a group of experts will be commissioned to study the issue in-depth, as some Democrats have suggested.
Likewise, Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill support repealing the ban but have not promised to press the issue immediately.

the 3rd ranked lsu tigers made a trip to alumni field here in hammond last night to take on the slu lions. it proved to be a very popular ticket, as i quickly realized yesterday morning when i went onlone to purchase mine.
there were none available!
so, i called jay, the slu baseball coach- he didn’t even have any! called in a favor to the ticket office- no luck. even called the athletic director’s office- none there!
called my friends at the slu alumni center, and hit paydirt when they called back a little after five to tell me they had two tickets for me!
of course, by the time we made it there, there was nowhere left to sit, so we sat at a picnic table in the concourse right behind home plate to watch the game. we left after 5 1/2 innings, and lsu eventually won by a final of 16-5. Wooho, go lions! oops- tigers!!
