don’t ask, don’t tell…

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

turns 15 today. and while many saw it as progress for the gay rights movement, i, and many others, see it now as more of a liability. in order to serve our country, we as gays and lesbians have to lie every single day about who and what we are!! is serving this country worth paying that steep a price?! i don’t think so!

it’s looking better…

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

yesterday the weather forecast for the mardi gras weekend included a 60% chance of rain for saturday thru tuesday. today’s forecast shows a 10% chance of rain for friday and saturday, 30% for sunday, 20% for monday, but a 40% for fat tuesday. but it is looking better, and it’s still a long way out. but come hell or high water, i’ll be down there partying!

we went to krewe of eve in mandeville last night with andrew and elena. it was rescheduled from the washout last friday night. caught a few beads, and had a good time. next parade is back in mandeville friday night for krewe of orpheus, then it’s across the lake til next wednesday!

Heath Ledger found dead in NYC

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008
NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence, and police said drugs may have been a factor. He was 28.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let him know the masseuse had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

A large crowd of paparazzi and gawkers began gathering Tuesday evening outside the building on an upscale block in SoHo, where several police officers guarded the door.

The Australian-born actor was nominated for an Oscar for “Brokeback Mountain,” where he met Michelle Williams in 2005. The two had lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, until they split up last year.

He most recently appeared in “I’m Not There,” in which he played one of the many incarnations of Bob Dylan — as did Cate Blanchett, whose performance in that film earned an Oscar nomination Tuesday for best supporting actress.

Ledger was to appear as the Joker this year in “The Dark Night,” a sequel to 2005’s “Batman Begins.” He’s had starring roles in “A Knight’s Tale” and “The Patriot,” and played the suicidal son of Billy Bob Thornton in “Monster’s Ball.”

Ledger grew up in Perth, and began doing amateur theater at age 10. At 16, he moved to Sydney to pursue an acting career, quickly landing TV movie roles and guest spots on Australian television.

After several independent films and a starring role in the short-lived Fox TV series “Roar,” Ledger moved to Los Angeles and costarred in “10 Things I Hate About You,” a teen comedy reworking of “The Taming of the Shrew.”

Offers for other teen flicks came his way, but Ledger turned them down, preferring to remain idle than sign on for projects he didn’t like.

“It wasn’t a hard decision for me,” Ledger told the Associated Press in 2001. “It was hard for everyone else around me to understand. Agents were like, `You’re crazy,’ my parents were like, `Come on, you have to eat.’”

parade time!

Monday, January 21st, 2008

the bf and i drove down to new orleans saturday night to catch the krewe du vieux parade, one of only two that actually parade in the quarter. (the other one being barkus- a krewe for canines and their people) krewe du vieux is made up of numerous sub-krewes, and is very satyrical (and sexual) in nature. lots of fun!

after the parade, we spent a couple of hours at laffite’s, just watching people and chatting with a few guys. i got cruised by a few guys, which is very intimidating for me… i’m just not used to it. one guy even came up and was very forward, and showed me his goodies!

got in bed about 2:30am. set the alarm for 6:45 so we could go with the truxillo crew back to new orleans for the little rascals parade. it was 20 degrees when we left, but had warmed up to about 38-40 degrees by the time the parade started. it was fun, even though it was a fairly short parade… and the krewe is made up of kids, but we had a good time.

then there was this cop who was parked across the road from us. every time i looked his way, he was watching me/us? very strange. and he kept rubbing his gun, as you can see in this picture. the bf suggested that maybe he was fantisizing about rubbing something else while he watched us!! dunno…

after the parade, we went to a couple of bookstores, then drove back to the quarter. went to second skin, then walked down to a bookstore near canal street. didn’t stay for the profiles show, too tired. got home about 5 and was in bed before 9:30! worked out in the bed again this morning, so we’re about to go to the gym now for a real workout.

and how is your friday going?

Friday, January 18th, 2008

let’s see… i upset a customer this morning because i wouldn’t take her rude-ass shit, so, she went home and cried to daddy. big bad daddy called back up here and started yelling at me for “upsetting my baby”. when he called me a “cocksucking motherfucker”, i hung up on him. he called back, and i put him on speaker phone so everybody else could hear what an ass he was being.

whatever!

then i had to call a customer and tell her that the cups she ordered for her baby shower on sunday were stuck in orlando, and wouldn’t be here until monday. she wasn’t very happy with me either.

oh well, the bf is meeting me for lunch. maybe we’ll just have a nooner in the bathroom to go with the 5:45am workout.

happy friday!!

almost friday

hump day hotties

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

a couple of hotties from last year’s mardi gras. getting in the mood… carnival season will be in full swing beginning this weekend, and only 19 days til fat tuesday!!

we have the boss’s condo on st. charles avenue again, so we can watch every uptown parade right there on the neutral ground in front of the building.

we’re going down either thursday or friday night, and won’t be home until wednesday night after mardi gras! woohoo!! gonna be a nice vacation! and speaking of vacation, we just found out that we’re closing from december 24th til january 4th this year! so, we’ll get three weeks of vacation instead of two! trying to break up one week of my vacation around holiday weekends so i’ll get 4 or 5-day weekends a few times during the year.

**********

damn!!! the mailman just came in… HOT!! didn’t know we had any sexy mailmen in town! young and cute… stayed and chatted a bit. too bad he’s not our regular mailman. hmmm, wonder if they are switching routes?!
