unify hammond, the local gay and lesbian group on myspace, also chose friday night at cate street pub to get together. met lots of guys and gals that are on myspace- some i had met in person, and lots of others that i hadn’t… a really fun night!

sunday, emily and brian went with us to mccomb, mississippi, where we spent the day tubing on the bogue chitto river. here are just a few pictures of all the eye candy that was out… lots more later!

finally saw the latest harry potter movie saturday afternoon, and i have to admit, i was a little disappointed. i know it’s extremely difficult to cram an 800 page book into a 2 1/2 hour movie, but i feel like too many important things were left out, and too much trivial nothingness was included. as randy jackson would say, “dude, it was just ok for me”…

**********

we went with some girls from the stable to the sumner high school rodeo in amite saturday night. it lasted til after 11:30… 4 hours is too long for a rodeo, especially when i’m tired and hungry! went to the waffle house afterwards, so it was like 2 before we got home. didn’t do anything exciting sunday, cleaned house, did laundry and cut grass. woohoo.

ok, back to work… hope the afternoon speeds by cuz i wanna go home and read the new harry potter book!

yesterday…

my parents celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. we all met them for dinner, all with the exception of the son, who was in new orleans with his friends for a concert. i always enjoy seeing my nieces and nephews, but last night was especially fun.

after dinner, we met two of the bf’s friends from dallas, shawn and clay, at brady’s for drinks. i have heard stories about shawn and clay for the six and a half years doug and i have been together, and it was great to finally meet them! can’t wait to go visit them in dallas.

since the son didn’t get home from new orleans til 2am, and daddy couldn’t go to sleep knowing he was still out, i am exhausted today! just finished my 2nd rockstar, and have another on standby in case i need it.

is it 5:00 yet?!

another lofty PRESEASON analysis

“It’s Saturday Night in Death Valley…
and here come your Fighting Tigers of LSU.”

the tigers have been ranked as high as #2, and i’ve yet to see a pre-season ranking that has them lower than #5 in the country. let’s hope the team gels with flynn as the qb very soon, or those lofty numbers will quickly tumble in reality! here’s the latest, from terry bowden:

4. LSU Tigers
Last year the Tigers played four top-10 teams on the road and still finished with an 11-2 record and a No. 3 final ranking. This year’s schedule is a whole lot easier as only one of LSU’s five road opponents had a winning record last year. There is no replacing the No. 1 selection in the NFL draft, quarterback JaMarcus Russell, but senior Matt Flynn gets a shot. Flynn was the 2005 Peach Bowl MVP filling in for Russell. The defense, with eight starters back, will be one of the nation’s best.

miss gay crescent city

Monday, July 16th, 2007

we went to new orleans last night for the miss gay crescent city america pageant at the pub where miss hailey alexander won the title. it was fun going out, first time to new orleans in a couple of months (after what was a weekly ritual)

and congrats to miss krystina synclaire who was crowned miss gay capital city america at splash in baton rouge on thursday night. only one more prelim til miss gay louisiana. it’ll be nice to just watch (and photograph) the pageant this year now that cassidy has died (again!).

sho nuff redneck

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

we went with andrew and elena to the “bull buckin’ and monster truckin” show at the florida parishes arena last night. now i love bullriding (and the bullriders), but monster trucking was a whole new experience for me, and i gotta say, i was a little disappointed. really big tires and really big noise, but not a whole lot else… or, maybe i just wasn’t redneck enough to “appreciate” it!

happy independence day!

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

america has its faults, and in spite of having a lying, ignorant president, i’d still rather be an american than anything i know! i still respect old glory, and the star spangled banner still brings goose-bumps and a tear to my eye.

happy fourth of july, ya’all!!

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

happy 17th birthday to my son! (middle, on bass) i went to hear him and his new band play last night, their first gig together. after only three weeks of practice as a band, they sounded pretty damn good. i am really proud of the musician he’s become. i love that kid!
