please bear with me as i repost a rather lengthy article from nola.com regarding the recent influx of new “fair-weather” saints fans. i don’t mind! come join the fun!! I have been a saints fan i guess my whole life. i grew up in a home with no tv, but my sundays were spent with an ear glued to the radio- wwl 870 out of new orleans, and i still listen to broadcasts from there if i’m in a car or can’t get to a tv.

i loved the saints even when they were consistent losers. i watched, with tears streaming down my face as they re-opened the dome after katrina by beating down the hated dirty birds from atlanta. i cursed them when they released martin anderson. i booed when they found a way, over and over, to lose a game they should have won. i cheered and applauded when mike ditka gave up the whole draft for a chance to draft ricky williams (even though later it seemed to be a bad decision).

i still get teary eyed watching the replay of tom dempsey kicking that 63-yard field goal. i got teary eyed and had to apologize to him when i got the chance to meet him in person. he didn’t mind. he is a saints fan too, and understood.

i loved them thru all the lows, and cheered all the highs. i’ll always be a saints fan. this past sunday, my heart was breaking as i gave up on that dream of a perfect season, BUT, the ones that mattered most, the team, hadn’t given up, and they rewarded the saints faithful with yet another victory!!!

i watch my man, who didn’t even like football when we met 9 years ago, go absolutely crazy when the saints win a big game, or make an awesome play. it’s situations like that all over this region as new saints fans are being born (or perhaps, re-born).

if they lose to atlanta sunday, or if they continue and go undefeated, and even win the superbowl, i’ll be a saints fan. if they collapse and don’t win another game, i’ll still be a saints fan. there’s always “next year”… let’s just hope this time, next year means defending a superbowl victory this year!!

so, to all you “new” saints fans- welcome!! and don’t be so quick to jump off the bandwagon- be loyal saints fans. after all, that’s what a fan is!!!

The New Orleans Saints are finally earning the loyalty of even fair-weathered fans

By Keith Spera, The Times-Picayune
December 11, 2009

You do not, as the song says, want to be in that number.

You are the 26 percent of local TV viewers who were not watching the Saints-Redskins nail-biter last Sunday.

You are the letter-writers who complain about the newspaper’s lavish front-page coverage of the team.

You are the poor souls who cringe every time a co-worker bids farewell on a Friday afternoon with “Geaux Saints.”

In short, you are the ever-shrinking Gulf Coast minority that has not drunk the Kool-Aid from the black-and-gold chalice.

I am here to reassure you: It’s OK to sneak a sip.

For the uninitiated, the Saints are pursuing two lofty goals previously dismissed as sheer fantasy: A perfect season, and the Super Bowl. Only one team in NFL history, the ’72 Dolphins, has won every game including the big one.

You could argue that, unless you’re placing bets, the Saints’ fortunes are irrelevant to real life. Saints victories don’t fill potholes or strengthen levees or stop soulless thugs from exacting revenge on rivals.

And the NFL is a mercenary business where the bottom line routinely trumps team loyalty. Players abandon teams, teams discard players. (I am not alone in wishing beloved Saints running back Deuce McAlister could have hung around to possibly earn himself a championship ring this year.)

But the Saints’ tragi-comic history and the transient, fragile nature of NFL rosters are all the more reason to seize the moment and rally around these players, on this team, right now. In quarterback Drew Brees, we have a class act whose passion is contagious. And he’s not the only such player wearing black and gold.

Such common cause is not without civic benefit. The Saints’ Cinderella playoff run after the 2006 season was indisputably a morale boost for a region still shell-shocked a year after Hurricane Katrina.

“Invictus,” the new Clint Eastwood movie starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon, dramatizes how the South African rugby team’s 1995 championship quest united a still-divided nation newly emerged from apartheid.

New Orleans is no South Africa, but we could certainly use a bit more brotherly love. And Saints camaraderie cuts across race, age, socioeconomic status and neighborhood rivalries.

Some lifelong, long-suffering Saints diehards may dismiss new converts as fair-weather fans, but don’t be deterred. A relationship with the Saints, like any healthy relationship, should be a two-way street: The Saints must earn our affection.

As one of only five active NFL teams never to reach the Super Bowl, they have not always upheld their end of the bargain. For years, mortified fans hid their faces with paper bags in the Superdome. In dismal Decembers past, I’ve found better ways to burn a Sunday afternoon than enduring yet another hopeless Saints game in yet another hopeless Saints season.

This is the Season of Hope.

Heartbreak is still a possibility. I had intended to ease off the throttle of my own personal investment for the remaining regular-season games. The Saints are already guaranteed a playoff slot; wishing for a perfect season seemed a gratuitous expenditure of emotional capital.

But that was before the Answered Prayer on the Potomac last Sunday. As the Washington Redskins prepared to ice the game and ruin the Saints’ unblemished record with an easy field goal, I headed for the exit at the New Orleans Athletic Club.

An eruption of joy from the assembled faithful in the bar — ranging from a criminal court judge to the gym’s parking lot attendant — pulled me back in. The Redskins had missed, the Saints were back in business, and I wasn’t going anywhere.

It was the most fun I’ve ever had at the gym.

Admittedly, Saints mania can go too far. During Sunday’s “The Color Purple” matinee at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts, wired fans receiving game updates broke out in cheers, interrupting the somber performance — twice.

If football referees policed theaters, such behavior would have drawn a penalty.

By contrast, on a New York to New Orleans flight a couple weeks ago, a flight attendant reminded boisterous Who Dats watching the game on seat-back monitors that not all aboard were similarly enthralled. They subsequently cheered with their inside voices.

That kind of consideration separates us from, say, notoriously boorish Bears fans.

I barely recall who won last year’s Super Bowl. But if the Saints achieve the impossible and go all the way, I’ll remember. We’ll all remember, for a very long time.

Because the Saints can reach — and win — the Super Bowl for the first time just once. It’s only entertainment — except when it is more.

This year, it’s much more. Don’t miss out.

Adam Lambert aimed to be titillating with his American Music Awards performance last night and boy did he succeed!

He may have been pitchy at times but Glambert’s performance did what he set out to do - get people talking. Everyone is talking about it! From the crotch-grabbing to the simulated oral sex to the guy on guy makeout session.

Was it over-the-top? Yes.

And we loved it!

Whether he wants to be or not, Adam Lambert is a gay role model and he’s the kind of role model that we want to have! Why?

Because there are lots of Adam Lambert out there in America! Showqueens, little boys that like to play with makeup, gay guys that are horny. All of the above!

As if responding to all the recent “controversy” that’s been swirling around him, Glambert was gay, in-your-face and super sexual at the AMAs.

We want Adam to do well! We need him to do well! Because just his PRESENCE alone is a win for equality and a win for gay youth that need to see themselves represented in the mainstream media.

He’s gotten a lot of criticism for this performance, but, Adam Lambert, we applaud you!

Glambert’s response?

“You know honestly, if I offended some people… it’s apples and oranges. I’m not an artist that does things for every single person. I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren’t really for everybody either.”

Adam’s performance was edited for the west coast feed and the budding pop star was none too pleased about it!

“There’s a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I’m a male, and I’ll be edited and discriminated against could be a problem.

“People are scared and it’s really sad, I just wish people could open their minds up and enjoy things, it’s all for a laugh, it’s really not that big of a deal.”

Stick to your guns, Adam and never apologize for who you are!

We LOVED it!

not really sure what i thought about it. it was entertaining, i suppose. the only problem i saw with it, was it wasn’t country! that’s the only kind of music i really like these days anyways.

this song has been stuck in my head all day, and i don’t even like miranda lambert…

Hey white liar
The truth comes out a little at a time
And it spreads just like a fire
Slips off of your tongue like turpentine
And I don’t know why
White liar

You better be careful what you do
I wouldn’t wanna be in your shoes
If they ever found you out
You better be careful what you say
It never really added up any way
I got friends in this town

Hey white liar
The truth comes out a little at a time
And it spreads just like a fire
Slips off of your tongue like turpentine
And I don’t know why
White liar

You said you went out to a bar
And walked some lady to her car
But your face has more to tell
Cuz my cousin saw you on the street
With a red head named Bernice
Turns out you don’t lie too well

Hey white liar
The truth comes out a little at a time
And it spreads just like a fire
Slips off of your tongue like turpentine
And I don’t know why
White liar

Here’s a bombshell just for you
Turns out I’ve been lying too

Yeah I’m a white liar
The truth comes out a little at a time
And it spreads just like a fire
Slips off of my tongue like turpentine
And I don’t know why
White Liar

or i’m gonna lose him for good!!!

i know he has faults, but i gotta stop nagging. i gotta trust that when he is online chatting while i am at work, that he is doing just that- chatting.

i gotta trust that he is in fact telling the truth when he tells me that he won’t cheat on me again.

if not, we’re done. i am driving myself insane worrying. he says all i do is nag and bitch. no wonder we don’t have a sex life. no wonder we are bored with each other. no wonder a lot of the time we both feel like we are at the end of our ropes and have no clue what to do next.

i don’t know all the answers. i don’t know how to stop nagging, but i have to figure it out. i have to trust him, even when he won’t talk about his day, or i think he has secrets. i have to trust him anyway.

i said i’d never blindly do that again after being hurt in the past, and i can’t say i won’t worry, and i won’t ask questions, but as of right now, i am letting the past go.

he cheated many times before, and me asking him not to cheat now is not gonna stop him, i know that. he is the only one that can stay faithful to me. i know he loves me, and i have to believe him, and in him. and in us.

if not, it’s over, and i would die to know it was over.

i’ve not blogged here in forever, cuz i didn’t wanna talk about what i was feeling in regards to life, and to our relationship. believe it or not, even if i was hurting by something that happened with him, making him hurt also was the last thing i ever wanted to do. those days are over. i will blog here, and if he reads it, then he at least will know how i feel without him feeling like i am nagging at him.

we have almost nine years invested in this relationship. in spite of all the ups and downs, i still love him with all of my heart and can’t imagine my life without him and his daughter in it.

i have to find a way to make sure that never happens.

Everytime I turn the conversation to somethin’
Deeper than the weather
I can feel you all, but shuttin’ down
And when I need an explanation for the silence
You just tell me “you don’t wanna talk about it now”
What you’re not sayin’ is comin’ in loud n clear
We’re at a crossroads here

If I’m not the one thing, you can’t stand to lose
If I’m not the arrow to the heart of you
If you don’t get drunk, on my kiss
If you think you can do better than this
Then I guess we’re done
Let’s not drag this on
Consider me gone

With you I’ve always been wide open
Like a window or an ocean
There is nothin’ I’ve ever tried to hide
So when you leave me, not knowin’ where you’re goin’
I start thinkin’ that we’re lookin’
We’re lookin’ at goodbye
How about a strong bout a strong shot of honesty?
Don’t you owe that to me?

If I’m not the one thing, you can’t stand to lose
If I’m not the arrow to the heart of you
If you don’t get drunk, on my kiss
If you think you can do better than this
Then I guess we’re done
Let’s not drag this on
Consider me gone

Consider me on being real
Consider me the past
Consider me a smile in an old photograph
Someone who used to make you laugh

If I’m not the one thing, you can’t stand to lose
If I’m not the arrow to the heart of you
Then I guess we’re done
Let’s not drag this on
Consider me gone
Consider me gone
Consider me gone
Just consider me gone

Kanye West Apologizes to Taylor Swift

On his official blog, Kanye West has issued an apology - in all caps - to Taylor Swift for ambushing her Best Female Video acceptance speech at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.

“I’M SOOOOO SORRY” he began.

On his blog, West went on to say that he was “in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment.”

The rapper - who was drinking Hennessy on the red carpet - added that “Beyonce’s video was the best of this decade . . . I’m sorry to my fans if I let you guys down . . . I’m sorry to my friends at MTV . . . I will apologize to Taylor.”

Before signing off, he wrote, “I really feel bad for Taylor and I am sincerely sorry.” Oddly, the apology was missing from his blog as of Monday morning.

After the show, Swift, 19, told reporters she had no ill-will toward the rapper, of whom she was once a fan.

“I don’t want to start anything because I had a great night tonight,” she said.

so the fuck what?! you should have never taken your bigoted black ass on stage in the first place! security should have thrown you out of the building on said sorry black ass! there was no reason for what you did, and no apology will help!

but huge, major kudos to beyonce, for calling taylor back out for “her moment”. she showed true class, and i was very happy for what she did to make a horrible situation much better for taylor swift, and her fans.

kayne west, on the other hand, should not get away with what he did.

what a fucking ass! wait, i already said that…

we went to the southeastern football game last night- stayed til about mid-way through the third quarter. the lions ended up defeating the union (ky) bulldogs 69-20. it was never close. we sat on the 50 yard line, of course.

went home and looked at pictures from cassidy’s photoshoot from the night before. worked on a couple before deciding on the pose we wanted to put up on the MGLA website. gonna try to switch the main photo out every couple of weeks or so.

anyways, no big plans for the weekend. the bf’s daughter is coming over tomorrow, so things will be tame on the end of the dirt road… not that there has been any action there in the past month and a half, at least.

oh, well… time to go eat lunch.

southern decadence has come and gone. we stayed at the bourbon orleans this year, which is right there on bourbon street next to oz and the pub. i had a good time, i suppose, even though i didn’t have sex with a single person out of the 100,000 gays there!! oh, well…

friday night we just walked around and observed the sights. it rained off and on, so was kinda dreary but it didn’t seem to damper the crowds too much. we stayed by the pub and talked to porn star/promoter nathan brooks for a couple of hours about drag and pageants and all that nonsense. got in bed about 5am.

up saturday and at the pub for about 1. it was still raining outside, so we went upstairs to watch the boys show their penises onstage to win cash. stayed out a while, then went back to the hotel and showered. met up with charles, so we hung out with him all night. went to a drag show at the golden lantern. hung out upstairs at napoleon’s itch talking drag, then drove to harrah’s for breakfast. after they dropped us off at the hotel, we went back out for a while. stayed upstairs at lafitte’s til we got kicked out at 4:30am.

slept til noon sunday, then went to watch the parade. afterwards, we were talking to tiffany alexander, when i realized that in all the madness of the parade, someone had stolen my wallet out of my front pocket! lucky for me, all they got was a debit card (which i promptly cancelled) and my driver’s license! no cash…

went to lunch at moon wok, then back upstairs at the pub. coming down the stairs, the bf slipped and bounced down about 5 stairs. he has a beautiful black and blue butt cheek now!

sunday night, we visited with jay and joey, our friends who located to san francisco after katrina. it’s always nive visiting with them! of course earlier in the evening was when i got the call from my ex-wife telling me the story about dennis killing his family and then himself. not a fun way to start the night!

was home monday by 1:00. didn’t do anything, but some laundry to get ready for the weekend.

is it friday yet???
